Meet our final partners, CJ Conseil! 💪

CJ Conseil is a French agency founded by Charline Jambert, a specialist in change management and gender equality issues. CJ Conseil's main role is to find new approaches and innovative digital means in order to train and raise awareness through serious games, educational videos, dynamic workshops and more.

It initiates and develops large-scale European projects focused on big societal subjects: gender balance in professions, youth employment, growth of female qualifications and positions, promotion of female qualifications and positions.. and much more!

Hello to our Polish Partners, Geek Girls Carrots! 🙌

Geek Girls Carrots is a global grassroots organisation focused on women in tech and female entrepreneurs. Their goal is to inspire, learn from each other, and share knowledge — and believe that girls in new technologies are the avant-garde of innovation. Geek Girls Carrots want to overcome stereotypes by bringing more diversity into the tech world, such as female admins, analysts, application architects, developers, graphic designers, IT managers, programmers… and many more!

Geek Girl Carrots will be creating an educational cartoon for professionals working in structured support employment networks, in order to aid them in tackling cliches when offering support to women. They will also be using their expertise to assess the quality of the project outputs and results.

Bonjour! Time to introduce our French partner!

Hauts De Garonne Développement is the economic development agency of the right bank of Bordeaux Métropole. The agency, financed by 17 municipalities, organizes over 80 business and employment events per year bringing thousands of participants together. Their goal is to encourage entrepreneurship and develop employment in the region.

Since 2003, within its mission of supporting companies in developing business, HGD has been informing and mobilizing companies against discrimination in hiring. They provide training to promote professional gender equality. Since 2013 HGD has been leading a yearly action of “trade discovery and promotion of gender diversity in companies”.

Hauts de Garonne Developpement has previously worked with another Erasmus+ program called “Gender diversity fosters employment” (mixitedesmetiers.wixsite.com). For this project they produced tools to help convince unemployed women to retrain into promising occupations mainly carried out by men. HGD also organises programming initiation sessions open only to unemployed women with no previous experience of coding.

Introducing our partner: AcrossLimits (Malta)!

AcrossLimits is a company offering various IT-solutions. Their expertise covers eLearning, eHealth, eGovernment, entrepreneurship and web development. They’re also proud to be a multicultural, multilingual company with employees from several countries. This makes AcrossLimits good at collaborating abroad, in Europe and beyond.

In addition to their diverse, international IT and digital solutions expertise, AcrossLimits also brings to the table their vast experience of EU-funded projects. During their 19 year existence, AcrossLimits has participated in over 60 different EU-projects. This kind of knowledge and network is a huge asset to Becoming a Woman Coder!

AcrossLimits has developed and consulted on numerous digital platforms aiming to provide trainers, students, business people, professionals, artists and underprivileged groups modern eLearning environments. Introducing our Finnish partner: The Finnish Software and E-business Association (Ohjelmisto- ja e-business ry) with their Mimmit koodaa -program!

Mimmit koodaa is an initiative aiming to break the stereotype of coding as a men's job. They organize low-threshold coding workshops and events for women interested in programming. There is no participant fee and women can join even if they have zero previous knowledge of coding. Mimmit koodaa works together with numerous ICT companies, providing accurate and up-to-date worklife information while the participants get a chance to meet the employers.

In the long run, Mimmit koodaa will help to reduce the gender gap in the programming profession, which in turn will benefit individuals, employers and the society as a whole.

Mimmit koodaa has been awarded the EESC Civil Society Prize as a recognition of the work done to foster gender equality. The program leader Milja Köpsi was also named as the Diversity Leader of the Year 2020 by Nordic Women in Tech Awards.

Who are we and what do we do?

Becoming A Woman Coder is a European project that aims to tackle the gender imbalance and workforce shortage in the ICT sector by encouraging and enabling women to take up coding. We combine the research, skills, and expertise, gathered by our five partners: Hauts De Garonne Développement, CJ Conseil, AcrossLimits (Malta), The Finnish Software and E-business Association (Ohjelmisto- ja e-business ry & Mimmit koodaa program), and Carrots Foundation.

We are focusing on those who work with unemployment: the project will produce an educational platform for professionals who are the first contact for women who want to find employment or a new profession. The platform tools enable women to understand their possibilities and see their own potential.

The goal is to offer support to all our target audiences, foster gender inclusion, reduce skill mismatches and labour shortage within the digital sector, and improve gender diversity within the coding profession.

We have created a project that does not only target women but involves them in the creation of the project itself. Becoming a Woman Coder will directly involve 200 people and benefit 15000 stakeholders in Europe and target countries. Our project is funded by the European Commission Erasmus+ programme.

Soon in Lormont (city closed to Bordeaux, France), 2 training courses in the digital professions: web developer and customer support technician. For either profession, there is no need to be good at maths, to be a geek, to have a A Level, or to have some experience in IT or Web professions.
